Seventh Tardis - The Doctor Who thread

  • The famously snippy and petulant Gallifrey Base owners have locked all the threads about the episodes. If there's a rattle to be thrown, these guys will throw it. Can't quite work out if the story was leaked as a rumour that no one would believe in order to stoke the fans in the run up to the 50th. And then it's all timed perfectly as an anniversary surprise. Huge press embargo, DWM playing dumb and feet being stamped because...

...it's true and the papers let the cat out too early.

  • Yeah my DW mate has been following all this missing ep's malarkey religiously, but I haven't been giving it a lot of thought to be honest Sparky. I am the kind of  believe it when I see it , maybe also slightly cynical and pissed off towards BBC for the fact one had to purchase a story again to get to see the recently recovered Hartnell episode 'Airlock', and that Underwater Menace episodes still hasn't been released.

    Is this official announcement tomorrow?

  • Enemy of The World - complete, and Web of Fear all bar one episode returned, amazing eh Sparky (I say that as I am sure we are the only ones that excited around here ;) )

  • It's great news. Funny, but I did say 9 or 90 somewhere earlier in the thread... I'm so psychic. The publicity for this is immense and hopefully it will lead to other finds. the trailers are really good, but you can't polish a Yeti. Cuddly fear. Just doesn't compute. But PT is such a good Doctor. Really cool.

As for other people not being as excited about Doctor Who as us...that's just down to evolution ha ha haaaa.

If I were dead, could I do this?

  • Multi-fangasm bonus!

Just read that Ben Wheatley (Down Terrace / Kill List / Sightseers / A Field In England) will be directing the first two episodes of series eight.

So stupidly excited - that ticks so many boxes for me that my anticipation level has probably doubled.

I'm too big to do cartwheels, but I did jump up and down screaming when I saw this on Facebook. Can you imagine going back to the darker gothic weirdness of the Pertwee era? Tourette's in the Tardis....

  • Exciting! And very well crafted, considering it almost nearly doesn't tell us anything.

  • Apart from the cheesy interpretation of the theme, that's a good little trailer

  • Yes, it's amazing how they've hidden 11 red herrings in there too... not sure how miniature Yetis and a Racnoss add up in the 50th. Have to wait and see.

  • I've been recording the gradual journey through the Doctors on Watch.

For those who'd not realised they have a short doc on one of them on the Saturday on Watch then a feature length episode of them afterwards, On Sunday they do the same for the next one so there's 1 to 4 done over the two weekends so far.

  • 'The science of Doctor Who' (Brian Cox) is on Nov 14th - 3 weeks from today.

Is there a date for the Gatiss special yet?

You mean the drama about the origins of Doctor Who right? I don't think in fact am fairly certain a date has not yet been confirmed, though I kind of assume it will be on the actual anniversary night itself, that's Saturday November 23rd in case you didn't know ;) I was a bit surprised the Brian Cox thing is going out a week earlier than the anniversary itself, assumption is the mother of all problems, but again I had assumed the BBC would have a dedicated Who thing going on on the 23rd November spread over various channels, looks like that will not be the case.

  • ^yep, that's the one i meant. Lots of stills from it are see-able now, looking fwd to it. Oh, i was kinda thinking that and other shows might be on pre-23rd, but you are probably right about the airdate.
