  • Anyhow, thought it was a barrel of monkeys at the time.
If I were dead, could I do this?
  • I always wondered if Tom and Jerry were deliberately named.

and which Tom and Jerry they were named after
    "its MY favourite song"
  • It's an old British English term for young rapscallions.
If I were dead, could I do this?
  • Good(e) Neighbors is awesome.  Felicity Kendal was a heart throb for the longest time.  What a deer.
  • Just looked that up. Apparently, the term comes from characters in a 1921-1928 Pierce Egan literary journal called Life in London or, the Day and Night Scenes of Jerry Hawthorn, esq., and his elegant friend, Corinthian Tom, accompanied by Bob Logic, the Oxonian, in their rambles and sprees through the Metropolis. There seems to be plenty of information about it on line.

I'd bet it would be an interesting read.

    "its MY favourite song"
  • Oh, my!

An extremely popular game at Victorian Christmas
parties. One player sits down, another player is blindfolded, kneels,
and places his/her head in the sitter's lap. The kneeler places an open
hand on his/her back, with palm uppermost, which other players take it
in turns to strike, and the kneeler must guess who has struck the blow.
If I were dead, could I do this?
  • In the USA, we call that giving head.

  • Idea for a new reality show:

    HOT COCKLES!

Host: "OK, contestant number one, for one thousand dollars..."

Studio Audience: "WHO DEALT THE BLOW?!!!"

Contestant Number One: "I'm not quite sure. Could we have another go at it?"
If I were dead, could I do this?
  • The Good Life - Def one of if not the best sit com ever written.

[Barbara points at the basket of flowers]
    Barbara: Shouldn't they be edelweiss?
    Margo:
You see? Barbara's noticed. I told Miss Mountshaft she should have
ordered the real thing from Moisy Stevens but no, plastic will do. The
whole thing is tat, tat, tat.

    The Golden Girls

    Sophia:
Esther Weinstock is dead. We grew up together, she was my best friend.

    Dorothy:
    I'm so sorry. What happened?

    Sophia:
    [sarcastically]
She was fighting an oil rig fire in the Gulf of Mexico.

    [agitated]

    Sophia:
    SHE WAS 88!

    Rose:
Well, it's great that she was able to work right up to the end.
