I am one of the "old hands" , 2004 is the answer to the next question . Yes , it waxes and wanes but you can see from the thread that HJ opened ("Entertain Me") , the board is missing something (the madness , conversations and laughs of the old days) , it was extremely well lived in even between albums on the old mb .

I guess it's partly perception & expectation.

Every day I pop by and there are always Goldfrapp related threads being used and posted in alongside the (very) random OT ones. That's seven days a week with some sort of GF chatter going on, even in the down time. We're between promo tour and tour proper, the singles (promo only but still) have been done and the radio promo is mostly done too.

I see it as a natural part of the cycle. Major things happen and people post more. In the gaps between these people take their foot off the gas and fill their time otherwise.

Its a lament not a complaint and I`m trying to be um...tactful in my words . I have no expectations per se , just the observation about things that interest me , this is no call to arms for anything , if people are happy with it , then they are happy with it - my interests just don`t align with others is all . I`ll happily grant you that the perception is larger (for other reasons) , you`re the man with the statistics to put fact to change perception , what do the current viewing and posting statistics graphs look like ? (not trying to make any point , that`s purely out of curiosity) .

* edit in - I don`t think the layout lends itself well to an immediate perception of "activity" .

I agree with you, Sartori, that there's something missing....Not a lot of crazies doing crazy things just to liven it up. I'll also restrain myself.

I think I just clicked to allow a spambot in by mistake (it's early and my mouse-fu is weak!) but can't remember the random name to go and find it.

We may therefore get a couple of spam posts but I'll chomp them (and it) once they appear.

Maybe these spam things also are the explanation for the "popular tags" I see on the right hand side of my screen? Like anyone uses the tags Louis Vuitton, Nike or Ugg here...

Not a Forum issue, just an observation that I got the usual "happy birthday" email from deer@goldfrapp.com yesterday, which I assume was triggered from the Olde Site like it always used to be, though that's now "goldfrappmessageboard.emihosting.com" or something. Pretty sure I haven't put my date of birth into my profile here (is there anywhere for that?).

Doesn't matter really, just made an old man happy...

I haven't checked the old site for while, but looks like da management are letting it die a natural death, rather than locking/archiving it. Does Peter J still post there?

Thank you both (although at 49 I should probably stop counting)

Just been back to the Olde Place and yes, PJ still pops in from time to time, along with Whickwithy and WhisperIt (and me, obviously) so we're not going down without a fight. And I see that Blackcherry1970 (Gary) - a real name from the past - has posted recently.

I tried to start a new discussion. Only I couldn´t, apparently because the "body is 11073 characters too long". I counted the characters and there were only 689. I can not write a message containing minus 10,384 words. Has anyone seen this problem before? What is it that I do wrong here?
