  • I know, right?! It was the way I was raised! I can't even help it. Why is Sex such this big deal? Why is everything so secretive? My dad was an artist and kept huge stacks of porn, yet I was taught it was wrong!!! What in the fuck is this duality?! I know, I've spent years trying to get over my hang-ups....fucking sad- but I think I'm there..finally! Now I'm gonna do some porn, fuck it. (Literally)

  • Can't help it? Bullshit! What? Are you ten? Google Conner Habib. No, not his porn, but his writing about porn and sex and stuff.
If I were dead, could I do this?
  • Men aren't taught sex is wrong. I was taught if I had sex I would get AIDS and die or I would become pregnant and disowned by the family. I was disowned anyway when I came out as gay. I just don't fucking get it. Why are women punished for being sexual?!?!

  • In a word, hypocrisy. Why are men who have lots of sex often referred to as 'studs' and woman who do the same 'slags' or 'tarts' ? Surely, for 'studs' to have their fun, there has to be an equal number of 'slags'. Also, if you look these words up, the male version is positive ( a sexually talented male) and the feminine negative ( a woman generally disapproved of because she has had many sexual partners).
    Hypocrisy pure a simple.

  • Why do you suppose men beat women down in such a way? It is not natural. Women become repressed- men become angry. I don't understand it. Even when rape occurs, it becomes the woman's fault and attention is taken away from the male. I don't understand such inequality. Why do you suppose this happens?

    What?!

  • To be honest, it's this whole fucked up "Patriarchy." I mean how in the world did they come up with the whole "women are evil and temptation" bullshit anyway?! (Not to say i haven't dated a couple) That realm of thinking is certainly not of God. That's just some messed-up brainwashing. This fucked-up patriarchy has created a system of "damned if you do, damned if you don't." When sex is presented as something sinful...that's a load of horseshit! It's a natural drive. I know I'm ranting, I just need to go to sleep. Night *Fuck the Patriarchy* night.

*stays up all night researching modern Jungian theory of Patriarchy*

  • You already know my view, PG.  It's pretty simple, really.  Most men are not good at sex.  It's just the ramifications of that simple statement that are mind-blowing if you delve deep enough.

  • thank God some of do still care about keeping it secretive, or I'd rather say, private!
  • Are you going to give us the answer then WW?!
  • Wow, that's a lot of questions WW. I can give a personal view on all the ones that had the word 'religion' in them. Because religion is about power and you keep power over your subjects by subjugating them and, basically, scaring them into compliance ( or offering virgins of course - Don't get me started)
Religion is, IMHO, a refuge for the weak willed who need to be told what to do, who cannot handle the fact that they are irrelevant in the grand scheme of the Universe and when they die, that's it, no harps, no paradise and certainly no virgins.
It's all a big recycling station really. I can live with that. Don't waste a second !

  • Fascinating questions WW!!! I commend your honesty as well, Thankyou! So are you saying that it is insecurity in men that has led to all this childish domination (leading to ghastly Wars, etc.)? It is interesting to note as well, slavery..in all of its forms. Why has Humankind continued to subject the world to slavery? Even Nature itself has been subject through Genetic Modification- which is a form of slavery.

When it comes to sex, the patriarchy has established a hierarchy. Everything that does not fit into its established rules falls lower on the chain and can then be made to feel less..thereby creating a system of domination and control. The Church patriarchy subjugated women as less- therein creating an illusion that women were not equals, only to then assign an entire gender certain roles. This was not love and hope which should be tied to a spiritual life..this was suppression and control of women.

Men fight amongst themselves for superiority, and when they lose to other men..they will lord over women. Why, why, why??? What I'm gathering is profound insecurity. There is just this ingrained need for dominance in the male. Why can't there be equality and respect amongst all living things? Why is there this drive for destruction within the male psyche? Why can't races co-exist peacefully? One man feels he must kill the other and take possession of whatever he's seeking. It is an illusion of power- the Human Race has assigned symbols to worldly things.( ie., Gold was not made precious and valuable until Man assigned it that particular meaning). In reality, Man needs food, water, shelter, and sex to survive..to keep the lineage going. Is Humankind still in such a state to feel desperate enough to kill and compete for these necessities?! It seems more the male's need for dominance. Is this dominance derived from insecurity? Is it an innate fear of other males?

Dam, I gotta sign off- but I absolutely love these deep discussions- ttyl!

  • I thought I did give the answer, Kat.

Yeah, PG, that is exactly what I'm saying.  Maybe I'm wrong, or maybe I'm overblowing it, but the insecurity, I think, is devastating.  It's the only thing that adds up to me.  Sagan suggested the reptile brain in all of us as the problem.  I think it is something much more fundamental and something that is reinforced on an individual basis once pubescence has been reached.  It's a slow crippling realization that creeps up on one.  What should be the satisfaction of life becomes a parody that most encounter, most deal with in the best way they can but still rides their lives, and many just quit caring.  I do realize I am always looking for a simple answer that solves all of our problems and that makes me skeptical of this simple resolution.  And, even if I am anywhwere near right, it's still wouldn't fix everything but it seems like a good start.

Most religions are a power game played by certain rules.  Look closely at the rules.  The adopted rules, like sex is bad, fun is bad, women are second-class citizens, if that.

  • When will men learn that they can't control women?!

I look at other parts of the world where they cover women in hijabs or burqas- absolutely insane. It is a deep-rooted fear that the woman will perhaps have sex with another male besides themselves. Instead of women being worshipped and loved for their feminine beauty- it is covered because of the male's insecurity. A deep, and fearful insecurity that they may not sire the offspring. Instead of admitting it, they chose to impose repressive rules.

There is nothing like insecurity to convert human beings into tyrants. Patriarchy makes male insecurities worse by feeding the illusion that if only they had unlimited power over women, they could address their insecurities. Unfortunately, insecurities can only be addressed by reason, introspection, human trust, a willingness to accept gender reality - and science.

  • I heard that half the people under Hijabs and Burkhas are men. It didn't say which half.
