  • Nah, something a lot more prosaic I am afraid. It was a contract to refurbish a big ward block on a hospital site. Even though we have a signed contract, we still have to raise a work order to hang all the paperwork on. These are usually £5k up to £100k so a £10 M one is very unusual.
Just doing my bit for the economy !

  • ^ And, kudos for it!!  I can see why you wanted to errr, "rise above"?  Still think selling the Queen would have been real cool.  America could desperately use one.  Might teach us some manners.
  • Queen?! She's a killer. (Just listen to the lyrics, :D )

  • @PG. Put simply, Queen with Freddie Mercury as a frontman were just colossal. Without giving too much away, I first heard them during a technology nightclass when I was still at school.  The older boys always bought in the radio and we listened to stations like Radio Caroline that played more contemporay Rock music and one night on came 'Seven Seas of Rye' and I was hooked.
As for lyrics; Freddie was not a man you wanted to piss off other wise you would feel the barb of his tounge as in this brilliant example in the track 'Death on Two Legs' dedicated to their thieving management company Trident that they had finally managed to get away from.  Listen to these lyrics.  Ouch !

I wonder if anyone has ever used that song to describe Queen Elizabeth?  Heck, it might fit.
  • @WW The lyrics make me think of a female assassin. I'm sure the real Queen has her secrets..who knows, I'm not gonna go there.

@UT Wow, what an incredibly scathing song..but hey, when someone you trust fucks you over in such a way..it's understandable. I was introduced to Queen through my father's record collection. I remember as a child being a little scared and fascinated by an album cover..it was "News of the World." That robot grabbing people- freaky. I played it though and was an instant fan. Here's another of my personal faves- Body Language.

  • Speaking of "Body Language", Freddie was wearing a red handkerchief around his right wrist. It has meaning in the gay male leather subculture. It's code for what they like.

  • Not quite sure when I got into Queen. I think it was Queen II and then I went back to Queen I and then to Sheer Heart Attack. That last album I played the bollocks off at incredibly high volumes on a Dansette in my bedroom. I remember having the window open one day and the people from across the road complained about the noise !
I continued and bought all their albums, seeing them 3 times and was at the very last concert at
Knebworth in 1986. If you get the chance, make the pilgrimage to Garden Lodge in Kensington.

Yeah, a good day. Chelsea result made me laugh. Nice to see the 'special' one having a bad day at the office

If they do, I will be there with you HB. Hoping last weeks success at MC was a turning point in the way they approach games like that.

  • Hmm, I'm thinking about sex (as usual). Hypothetically, how would you feel if you saw someone you cared about as a person do porn? ...and I'm wondering how people can separate love from sex. There is just something fundamentally wrong with it from my perspective.
