I know I shouldn't say it but I think I will be getting particularly leathered this Christmas just to get through it. Its better than the alternative, being sober through it  ;))
  • Turned down two ritzy Christmas parties- just don't feel like rubbing elbows with capitalistic assholes. I'd rather see a movie- which I did. I also drank some very strong coffee..thick like Turkish and now feel like vomiting, so excuse me for a minute or two-

  • Hi folks. Been a tough couple of months for me. Had to have my dog put down in early November (he was just 6 yrs old) and a week later heard that my Mum had bowel cancer. Looks like it was localized... and they have now removed the affected region, so hopefully she will be OK. Guess I'm generally a pessimist so finding it hard to bounce back, but I will get there...
  • Best wishes for her recovery, HJ.  And, hope you are feeling better soon.  With the new year would be excellent timing.  Maybe it can help lift your spirits.
  • @HJ I know it's extremely hard to deal with the grief that comes from losing a beloved pet, but you gave him the best life imaginable while he was with you. I planted a tree in memory of my dog that passed away (he was 14 and had congestive heart failure). When you feel ready, maybe rescuing a pup from a local shelter would be a good idea. You certainly have the love to give. Xo

As for cancer, it's a tricky disease. You see, the affected mass sheds cells that lodge in different parts of the body. The mass then produces an inhibiting hormone, which signals the shed cancer cells not to divide. When the main mass is removed, so is the hormone that suppresses cancer growth in other parts of the body. There is a way to heal though- even if the cancer remains present it will not take over. It's a radical but beneficial change in diet. Chemo and modern day drugs kill too many of the healthy cells along with the cancerous ones.

The best medicine for ANY cancer is an organic juice fast. The process of digestion takes up so much energy- have you ever felt lethargic after a big meal? So with a juice fast, you free up the body's energy to work on healing..AND the natural nutrients will cut inflammation to speed the healing process.

I'm going to give a juice recipe for anyone who is interested- all produce MUST be organic (pesticide & GMO free)

    4 leaves kale
    1 cucumber
    2 apples
    An inch of ginger
    3 stalks celery

    - and any other fruit, such as pineapple, to add sweetness. As long as organic kale and ginger are in there, the recipe can be modified. I'd say 4/6 glasses a day, until the disease process has dissapated- at least 1 glass a day after healing has occurred. I've seen this work!!!

  • Thanks for posting the juice recipe, PG. I'll mention it to my Mum.

And I know some think it's a bit soon, but I have actually already got another pooch. The new pup is a Brittany. He'll never replace Oscar, but he is helping to fill a void in my life, and obviously - being a puppy - keeps me busy with cleaning-up and whatnot! I will post a pic on the appropriate thread.

  • I know how you feel HJ - Parental illness and loosing a pet are hard life events to deal with but you will come through. I hope your Mum gets the best possible treatment and gets rid of the big C.

Getting another pooch was exactly the right thing to do - I was hesitant when we lost one of ours years ago but it proved to be the best tonic you can't replace the loss but the new dog brings it's own character.

All the best for the New Year.
What if the Hokey Cokey is what it's all about?

@HJ Sorry to hear about your Mum. Its tough getting news like that but if its any help one of my friends Mum had bowel cancer, she had the op and had a speedy recovery. This was two years ago and all is well so think the same for your Mum.

As for me, Dads prostate cancer is in remission but doctors have now found a growth in his nasal cavity. Two hospital appointments already lined up in January. :(

Me, stressed with the whole lot but Christmas went OK. Time off in the New Year and counting down to first gig of 2015 :)

  • I raised an order today at work for a fraction over £10 million. ( about $17 million).
God I felt important ! I expected to get an erection but, sadly, I was told that was inappropriate in the workplace.
Shame. I have brought a copy of the order home though to look at later !
The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ.
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit.
Shall lure it back to cancal half a line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.

Congrats!  But, you're exchange rate is out of date.  About $15M.

What the heck did you sell?  The Queen?
  • @WW Sounds like his soul.
