I can't find the 'technical board issues' thread so it'll have to go in here.

WHY does my board always organise threads by order of votes? Who even votes for anything? Even when I'm going from say page 1 to page 2, I'll organise page 1 by date and then click on page 2 and it'll go back to be ordered by votes. What the deuce is going on? Does this happen to everyone? I'm pretty sure it's only just started happening recently.

Anyway, it's VERY annoying!

At the top of the thread, read 'sorted by.' Choose the 'date added' tab. I'm pretty sure you only have to do it once in any thread.

Sadly, such stories about the USA never surprise me. The country that imprisons the largest proportion of its population has the effrontery to call itself "the land of the free"(!!!!) And compare the maps of the USA and Europe at the top of this Wikipedia article:

The blue on the USA map only applies to state schools. If one bothers to read the text, one will discover that there are only two states (New Jersey and Iowa) where corporal punishment is banned in both state and private schools (which is certainly how it is in the UK). New Jersey, in fact, covered itself in glory by abolishing it (in 1867) 104 years before the next state to do so.

I think that most Europeans probably assume that the USA is a much more enlightened place than it is. One of the troubles with the USA, I suppose, is that it received too many of the religious nut jobs that Europe didn't want.
