  • The Lynda Bellingham news almost broke my heart. At least she went out strong.

  • Bernard William Jewry - AKA Alvin Stardust - AKA Shane Fenton.
Perhaps Lynda B is wearing a red dress and he is asking her for a dance?
In the 70's, he was my Coo-ca-Choo.

  • The great Jack Bruce left us today.

I've just blown the dust off the old turntable and put my Disraeli Gears LP on.

  • Just heard that Jack Bruce has died. Very sad. Some of his work with Cream was very progressive and he expanded the way that the bass guitar was used in rock music. His vocals were also pushing the boundary and Cream sold over 30 million albums in a very short space of time. Along with Ginger Baker and Eric Clapton, he made Cream probably the first of the super groups.
Jack Bruce and Alvin Stardust in the same week. Not a good period to be an ageing rock/pop star.
Check out Sunshine of your Love to enjoy Jack at his best.

  • For those with an interest in cricket, the news of the death of Australian batsman Phillip Hughes is very tragic. Its sad for his family and friends, the world of cricket, fans of the sport and more importantly the bowler who is devastated at this tragedy. RIP Phil  :(

  • Today would have been Jimmy Hendrix's 72nd birthday.
Tuesday was the 23rd anniversary of Freddie Mercury's death.
Both true greats, both sorely missed.
Those were they days of our lives !

    Mandy Rice-Davies.  *sigh*

    It's a scandal
    ;)
  • I was about seventeen at the time.  The sort of age at which a person takes an interest in such things.  She was only a couple of years older than me.
  • I never met either Mandy or Christine, but as a child I did meet Christine's step father. He was a photographer and did a season at the local Butlins camp in the mid 60's. My parents had a large house in the town and would board overspill Butlins staff of which he was one. I have a photo of me as a 6 year old taken by him.
One of those small claims to fame ! I enjoyed the film Scandal. Worth digging out and watching again. So, John Profumo slept with a call girl who also slept with a Russian politician. Get over it !

  • RIP Joe Cocker
I still consider his air guitar performance during "With a Little Help from my Friends" at Woodstock one of the finest.
