  • @Tweety: No you just get a preview steam LQ and the press release. I only published bits of lyrics (now deleted) that I could clearly hear and was sure of.
“Beware of artists. They mix with all classes of society and are therefore most dangerous." — Queen Victoria
  • I'm still honestly floored by just how good this song and video are. If the rest of the album is this fantastic, then, well, they might just have made their most accomplished album to date.
I had a king in a tenement castle, lately he's taken to painting the pastel walls brown. He's taken the curtains down. He's swept with the broom of contempt, and the rooms have an empty ring. He's cleaned with the tears of an actor who fears for the laughter's sting...
  • Just listened to it with my headphones, it really is a combination of Seventh Tree and Felt Mountain. I love it.
  • @Stranger it's a good point well made, roll on Septmeber....
    "its MY favourite song"

Dont worry Bells, I didnt like much of 7th tree, they were still great live. I just had to pretend the may pole n hippy shit wasnt on stage

My face was like this when I first heard 7T  :-?? but it grew big time on me after their Royal Albert Hall gig, probably as that was the first time I had ever seen them live.
This, however, I know the song will grow on me as for me personally they have never done a bad song. I just have an issue with what I would refer to as nudity in basically what is a "pop" video. It may get tarted up in the name of art but it just puts me off as I find it very distracting and quite honestly pointless (in my opinion). Maybe some people on here will think Im being prudish which I personally dont think I am, its just for me BC era of imagery was far too over-sexualised so I just concentrated on the music and I can see I shall be doing the same with this album.
Do I really now want to travel to Manchester and London to pay a lot of money to a band that I dont just like but love and adore to be confronted of imagery that quite frankly should have died out years ago in some dodgy soft porn film. I know theres no sex in the video before anyone says anything and nowhere near as bad as your average Snoop Dog video but I thought Goldfrapp were more intelligent than this. Seriously dont think I want to fork out for the box set now and might just get the album instead. The gig are starting to look very different in my eyes and I feel quite upset to say I might have to distance myself from this new stuff already.
Maybe Im just in a bad place at the moment so not in the right mood for getting into this right now??
    :(( :((

Right? Like "Monster Love" meets "Human" or something. Wonderful. :)

  • ^ Ooh yes, with a pinch of "Utopia" thrown in
  • Ok,hello all;-D

I really liked Head First(I prefer heartbreaking Felt Mountain and "folky"Seventh Tree)so this new venture makes me f******g mental;-D I watch Drew and the trailer over and over again.

I get this rush of enthusiasm that I've got when I first discovered Goldfrapp. They are back to their roots(at least for what I consider their core).

I'm very pleased to join again.I was July on the old forum(avatar with Roisin Murphy sticking out her tonque)

    Cheers;-***

but it just puts me off
I can sure understand where you are coming from, HB.  It's like I was saying in another thread, I kinda miss the old days when Disney and G-rated movies were the only game in town.  But, really, this doesn't bother me near as much as some things from the past.  At least it's humans in it.  And, it was done with a LOT more class and taste than some of the stuff from the past.  I guess, personally, I can always right off the video and I think the show will be very classy but, of course, that is just a guess.

  • Drew is so keen on switching the moods,it starts with something pleasant and cosy,a bit reminiscent of monster love(like someone already noticed) then those incredible strings and then the atmosphere is getting a tad tense and colder and of course this vocalizing after 3:48 gives me chills.

I'm very, very excited,I can't recall being this aroused about an album release for about 5 years;-D

The little pervert in me also likes small things like "I smell your sweat",so sensual and tender;-P

  • Uh... Bells?

BC is basically sex ran through a WAV file and stuck on a CD. It's all sex songs.

So the imagery fits perfectly. It's like listening to a porn film but not watching it. Which is very distracting on public transport I tells thee.

Still - new stuff. I was wondering why there's so many replies for what I thought was just a single announcement.

The youtube comments are all rubbish.
  • The early release of this particular video could be very well planned.  Possibly brilliant, really.

  • I can't get it out of my head, 10 maybe more listens, haven't overly watched the video I've just been appreciating the audio, epic and haunting are the words that most describe what this song means to me right now.
    It's a re-creation
    Again I live another life
    My imagination
    Can't cross the borderline
  • "Haunting" is exactly the term that came to my mind.  And,
"reminiscent".  Pretty amazing really, because those two words are
conveyed more by the sounds than the lyrics or the video.

  • Yeah I haven't began the process of really deciphering lyrics but others here seem to be doing a grand job I am just really trapped in the music, which is quite simple but effective, really blown away by the vocal melodies and the strings particularly. Really interesting choice as this just isn't hit single material so a brave move commercially, I'll get the 7" single version for sure ;)
