We hardly have enough grit boxes and as for a snow plough..I haven't seen one anywhere. I doubt they'd have them up North in Scotland to be honest or in Wales.
It's ridiculous. Grit will not work as effectively in minus temperatures and a snow plough would be too be for just a standard sized main road. The difficulties are with cul de sacs, any road that's on an incline or gradient.
I live in a sort of cul de sac at the top and my step dad has been out pushing cars up the hill that have been stalling. What a hero!!
If more cars had those traction tyres it would be a good thing.
Oh no! Up here they pour the salt/sand mix out of the back of these huge snow ploughs. Salt works at just about any temperature, it's just kinda harsh on everything. Personally, I just stay off the roads almost completely until it clears, like April/May.
Yeah, everyone wants to go the regular speed even in the middle of a snow storm. It's funny that people with four wheel drive forget that it really doesn't help that much when you are attempting to stop if you are going sixty.
I'm not seeing those FB pics for some reason. Temperature has gone back into the positives here in NE Essex today. A barmy 2.7 degrees. Get the beds out! No more snow and wind has dropped and the thaw is underway. We are promised 6 or 7 degrees tomorrow. Mrs UT will think it's time for Hot Tub time machine no doubt.

Well, on the bright side (boy, do I look for the silver lining or what??!), S, you picked a perfect day to burn a lot of time learning the arcane, rigamarole structure of posting pictures on this site. It sounds like there wasn't a lot else to do. It seems like you figured out a way to do it, also. Good for you!
Not a bad nor'easter at all here. No power outages, no trees down (one is kinda tilted), no snow or precipitation of any kind. Kind of a fun windy day! This is the time of the year, with sticky wet snow, that we can get some real damage done, if it were to snow with high winds.
I can't get out of the house to be honest... Plus nobody can really get to ours. I was dallying about looking at Dropbox and discovered a pile of old photos and thought I'd share them which has resulted in battling with this website for an hour and a half.
Awww, com 'on. You had blogspot working! Also, photobucket's not bad. Iuv or I can help you with that one. It's been a long time so Iuv might do a better job, but I would try. It has been a community effort. I hope we don't have to wait until the next snow storm. That could be years!! JK, whatever suits...
