  • Odd that Mute never responded to you!?

Fascination management didn't get back to me either BTW. Do they still cover Goldfrapp? Well, their webpage seems to say so (albeit an old pic)... http://www.fascinationmanagement.com/
  • missed the clips, probably a good thing
  • it's so weird seeing her as a red head - she does look great though :D
  • Calling a Goldfrapp track is utterly horrible is like accusing somebody of murder. You have to be really, really sure that's it's true and tbh it's probably not.

Someone said a track was horrible? Which, where?

One minute snippets of each track leaked on youtube.

    SPOILER WARNING

Become The One is the strangest track I've heard by them. Not liking the vocal treatment at all. Need to hear more though - perhaps it's salvageable. As it stands, though, I think it's utterly horrible and could have been something really special.

Lots of praise after that but it just struck me as strange lol.

well i didn't like 'anymore' when i heard the clip yet somehow the song has been on repeat on my iPod ever since the full track came out... odd how that happens isn't it?

Yeah that's cool when that happens. Feel like you're trying to make a point.

I got fed up in the end HJ. As you know, I tried to tell them there was a leak but you can lead a horse to water etc etc.
I had just DM'd A is A on Twit as I think she has a follow from Alison so could PM her on there to tell her, but by the time I did that, the ZDigital link had been pulled, it was on YouTube, then that was pulled...
Anyway, cats out the bag now and I no longer feel I am holding out on people.

  • My only issue with Become The One is it sounds so similar to Pale Green Ghosts that it's all it makes me think of when I listened to the clip, almost as if the producer is a bit of a one trick pony when it comes to musical talent.  As much as that makes the guy unique and identifiable, it just smacks of a lack of originality considering I first listened to that John Grant album in the summer of '13.

Having said that, I do like the song and I do like the sound of it (particularly the breezing vocals), it's one of the clips where the 60 seconds didn't do it any justice.

The clips did at least fill me with confidence that I will enjoy the album immensely upon release and for eternity.  But it also squashed some pre-conceived ideas that I had in my head of what certain songs would have sounded like from their zingy titles, e.g. Zodiac Black i'd have thought was going to be a stomper - which it is not - and had I stayed with that thought for another two months I might have been a bit underwhelmed.

Fair enough. To me, in my opinion, the track sounds horrible in comparison to what the rest of the album sounds like. That being said, it is only a minute-long snippet and it could just be a poorly selected section of the track. Could have a killer chorus or sudden abrupt changes.

Still, can't be expected to like every song they produce. Can't tell you the backlash I've received from countless Madonna fans for not being able to stand specific songs, or from Cher fans for liking certain ones.
    Just can't win!

Lol. That being said, the album is sounding fantastic altogether. Very glad I pre-ordered, as always.

I'm really shocked that Zodiac Black isn't something akin to Strict Machine, as others and myself had expected/hoped. The middle of the album feels pretty damn saggy without an uptempo bump between the chunk of slower songs if we're going by the snippets.

  • Off-topic, but out of interest, what Madonna songs are in question here? :P
