I would love to go to New York one day, I wish it was possible, but hey we have more chances to see Goldfrapp in the UK than you guys in the US. It sounds like a really amazing show, really unique and one off. Enjoy your adventures!

Not so much physical exhaustion was I referring to, stress exhaustion. Taking all of these buses and trains and subways is going to stress me out a lot. Add getting lost to that and I don't know what I would do, I would be such a wreck.

I traveled down to London for a concert recently and thought the same, it's dangerous at night, i'll get lost, etc. But it was totally fine, i Google Streetview'ed the hell out of where i needed to go, i learned the timetable for the Underground trains (actually, i found an app that had them all stored), and i knew coming out of the concert i'd be in a big crowd of fellow fans so it was alright.

That's what I was thinking about doing. That's actually what I've been doing all of tonight, looking at Google Maps and finding all of the directions if I were to go.

Haha I feel so embarrassed to be posting all of this to all of you because you are all older than me and have most likely traveled great distances without thinking twice and I'm so scared because I've never done something like this before! But it's for my favorite band, so I should just get my shit together and go.

A big conflict is when the concert would let loose? If it's after 9pm I'm pretty much screwed.

You can actually get tickets below face value on StubHub and elsewhere.  It's too bad they couldn't find an orchestra to play with in LA at Disney Hall or more unorthodox venue like the Hollywood Forever Cemetery -- would definitely have sold out -- the way nearly every show here seems to.  NY always seems tougher unless you're a huge name.  Perhaps because of the competition from the overwhelming number of cultural activities in NY or because the audience for indie/alternative artists tends to skew younger and, hell, the cost of living in NY makes the fun things in life sometimes cost prohibitive.  Has there been much promo/publicity for this show?  Seems like promo has focused almost exclusively on the UK, which totally makes sense given their core fanbase.
