John was a DJ on Radio 1 in the UK. He started back in the early/mid 60's and over the years, he developed a talent for picking up on up and coming bands. To the point where, if John said a band was good, they generally hit the big time. The BBC continue to treat John as a God. I believe there is a John Peel stage at Glastonbury, there are John Peel awards and basically, in the UK, he has become a byword for musical credibility.
He was a nice, cool guy. Very self depreciating, which endeared him to people even more.

Yes, haha. I still have one year left. Right now I'm doing a practicum, then I'll have two weeks off and then I'll do a different practicum until November.
