  • Just a bit disturbing. I was getting concerned at the end that David has Parkinson's !

The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ.
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit.
Shall lure it back to cancal half a line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.
  • Brooks - You, Me & Us - Clix
I take the needle off the Technics and put it in my vein
  • David Bowie was such an influential artist, both musical and artistic. He influenced so many other people that the list is too long to even contemplate writing.
Look at this. David Bowie - Ashes to Ashes

The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ.
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit.
Shall lure it back to cancal half a line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.
  • That's 1980.
Here's a video from my mate Toyah from 1982. She was and still is a massive Bowie fan. This is not plagurism, this is homagé. This is worship. Strangely, there is a quick scene in the middle that mirrors the opening scenes of the Lazarus video.
    Toyah - Brave New World.

The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ.
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit.
Shall lure it back to cancal half a line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.
  • "The Healing Spirit", an instrumental album by Diane Arkenstone, wife of famous composer David Arkenstone, if I recall correctly.

You all need this album. It is simply beautiful. Like an Enya album but without vocals and enhanced soundscapes instead, really. It is the most blissful thing I have ever heard. It deserves so much more recognition, much like our beloved Goldfrapp.

Also recommend the album "Snowfall" by David Arkenstone. Another gem. Do yourselves a favour and check these links out - you may discover something you didn't know you needed!

What if the Hokey Cokey is what it's all about?
  • Thanks, Appy61, that is a great version. When I try to play the link, tho, I only get a 10 second clip.

I found the whole thing, with a nice animation, here

  • That is great, PG.

Meanwhile, this is the lovely title song for the best TV series I have ever seen.

  • The Detectorists is a nice, gentle and funny comedy. Funny thing is, it co-stars Rachel Stirling and in a cameo part as her Mother, her Mother in real life, Diana Rigg.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you, David Bowie's landlady circa 1972 !!!

  • The Au Pairs, featuring the completely awesome Lesley Woods.

The BBC instructed them NOT to play the second song here, as it was "too political". They did, of course, and didn't appear on the BBC again.
