Will Gregory Moog Ensemble - Heat Ray LP
  • Will Gregory of Goldfrapp has announced a new project, the Will Gregory Moog Ensemble who will release their debut album, Heat Ray, on June 14 via Mute. It was inspired by the work of storied Greek mathematician and inventor Archimedes and features Gregory and his ensemble of synthesizer experts (including Portishead’s Adrian Utley) along with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. “I wasn’t a great maths student,” Will admits. “So my translation of music alongside those principles isn’t very thorough or very accurate. They’re just an impression of his ideas in sound.”

  • Oh, great stuff! :D Excited for this!
  • It's no wonder the two made such a great pair.
  • I've really enjoyed a lot of Alison's solo tunes, but this track has made me realise how much I miss hearing her vocals over the glorious instrumentals that Will provides.

  • Hi All. Hope everyone is well.
I’ve bought this on CD. It’s good but, to be honest, it’s a bit Curate’s Egg. Some of the track are brilliant & others (extends hand & wobbles it up & down left & right). It needs a 2nd listen to confirm for me.
However, I have bought tickets to see them later in the year at Saffron Walden Hall. I’ve seen the Ensemble once before and music sometimes comes alive when it is played live.
    Anyone else have a copy?
The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ.
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit.
Shall lure it back to cancal half a line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.
  • Yet to listen to this. I think i'll have a listen online, and then if i like it i'll treat myself to the vinyl. I'm off tomorrow so i think i'll have a proper listen then :)
