That's a happy story, PG. I've been finding more connections with the other living creatures in the world, many of them lost and ghostly, others just distant. The hazel in the garden, like lots of other trees, grows best when regularly coppiced, and reminds us of a time when there were beasts here in Britain large enough to reduce a tree to ground level; the flowers brought from exotic countries searching for pollinators that remain in the lands of their origin; meanwhile, rain containing viruses and bacteria from the mid-Atlantic falls.
