Besides being afraid of a one-size fits all interest rate..there's the derivatives market bubble. Will the bank tank? Asshole Trump has alluded to it..and if anyone, he would know. (???)

Correct me if I wrong, but did you just implied that Trump is some kind of finance specialist?

  • It seems as though the lunatics are holding sway both sides of the pond at the moment.
Whatever your views about the EU and Brexit, the point is that the UK has a soverign Parliament, and it is that that governs the UK, not the Government in power. That particular party is the one in power at a particular time, and comes up with a program of laws and legislation it seeks to introduce, but it does not hold automatous power and has to seek approval of such things by a vote in the upper and lower houses, at which, it seeks a simple majority. The point being made is, irrespective of what the people decided in a referendum, the country is not ruled by a referendum but by Parliment. As such, MP's should listern to the views of their constituents and reflect that in the way they vote when required to. Whether certain parties like it or not, leaving the EU came into being on an Act of Parliment, and leaving will have to take the same route, via a vote in Parliment. A sitting Government does not have the power to overturn an AoP without seeking a mandate in such a way.

As for the USA, irrespective of your views of Hilary Clinton, if you vote for Trump, you will have to live with the racist, xenophobic, mysoginistic idiot for at least 4 years. That is the cost of a protest vote, so think on !

Quite so. What's frightening is the response to the High Court ruling that parliament has to be consulted before we leave the EU - the Daily Mail headlining the judges as "Enemies of the People" and UKIP's Suzanne Evans calling for them to be sacked. Meanwhile, the Tory Lord Chancellor has said nothing to support the independence of the judiciary.

These people must have some understanding of the concept of separating the judiciary from politics - after all, they are full of outrage when Robert Mugabe attempts to remove 'uncooperative' judges.

It always fascinates me that people will buy a paper like the Mail after it supported the Fascists in the run-up to WW2, or vote for the Tories after they opposed the establishment of the NHS or giving votes to women - positions that are unequivocally anti-democratic and hurt the vast majority of voters. As I keep boring on about, rationality has little to do with our decision making.

What I'm saying is, is that these super rich bastards must be clued into the banking situation. The US pretty much got bailed out of the housing market bubble crash by China. They keep telling Americans "The banks are too big to fail"...and yet the derivatives debt of all the major US banks has spiraled out of control! The European banks have done the same damn thing! Indeed, frightening times. This is what happens with no oversight and no enforced regulation. The only thing we can do is to be vigilant and prepared I guess.

Yep, the rich have long since disposed of any concept that they should be held accountable for how they run the money markets. Instead, they write computer algorithms which shift billions from one country to the next, investing and disinvesting in milliseconds with absolutely no connection to the lives of real people - the job losses, the housing slumps and the environmental ruination.

And then they argue that 'the market' is a natural phenomenon that must not be 'interfered with' by those of us who point out that money is supposed to serve people and not the other way round.

(Super rich? he claims 10B worth that would put him at #46 in Forbes list, but Forbes have him at #146 with 3.7B, which ias one of the higher estimations. How much of his money belong to Putin is other question)

Others? You seem to think he made it to the fina;d round because of his own money or money by some kind of orgasnisation of rich, economically educated, people. IMHO it would be better alternative than his blind simple people with BS approach

  • It's a sad state of affairs when even the kids that I teach, who have restricted understanding ( being politically correct).. Are stating that Trump will evoke nuclear Armageddon! What can I say in response?! to kids that will soon be studying Charlie And The Chocolate Factory! What a completely messed up, cynical, pathetic and utterly terrifying world we live in.
  • Mind you, like I've said before, isn't that exactly the diet we were fed on in the 80s? And we remained sane! 8-}

With whomever offends his sense of amour propre that morning. A pathological narcissist if ever I saw one.
  • Good question Ludux and perfectly answered Whisperit!
  • It happens over and over again.  Great masses of people begin to feel disenfranchised and the excessively rich become decoupled from the rest of humanity (think "Let them eat cake").  The only difference this time around seems to be the the rich have learned how to play the masses better than ever before.  Promise them whatever they want and you can elect whomever you choose.  Of course, you just won't give them anything but more pain.  The excessively rich are doing a great job of convincing the public that everything is alright when, at an individual level, there are a lot more people flipping burgers rather than doing something truly productive.  I won't even get into what a reflection it is on mankind that nearly everyone is convinced that everyone else would easily become a layabout if given enough money to do so.  This species really has yet to become truly sentient, much less sapient.

You have read your Dickens, right?
  • It's a bit more disturbing than that WW. These are generations of highly wealthy people playing the populace. They are in the government and run the UN. These families will not let other Nations amass any wealth for fear of competition. If they do amass wealth, then a deceptive plot is kicked in. We can use WW2 as an example. Here's how they do it-

    1) prepare infrastructure for the processing and eventual death of targeted populace. Which meant, they had the concentration camps, gas chambers and furnaces already in place before distributing propaganda.

Now how could they do this today you say? By doing it right in front of your face. As an example, no one would ever think of a Walmart or ASDA as an internment camp, although that's who Sam Walton was. During WW2, he ran them.

    2) infiltrate the banking system. That means inside men ready to control the market with the populaces own wealth. The Stock Market crashes. The scene is set.

Where has all that money in derivative debt gone you say? Take a guess.

    3) brainwash with propaganda. Hitler was the middle man. These wealthy families financed him. They also financed the other side. This is how a War is started.

Today any false flag will work.

    4) secret away all the stolen bank money. The people they've stolen it from are now dead.

These families have done this throughout the ages in one form or another. It's how they have kept and built upon their wealth. Will they end up in Hell? For sure.
