    Just listening to some faves this year.
    Amy LaVere is a strong contender to be the best of 2014.... Then again, this is only halfway...

    Dare I say the new Morrissey album, and enjoying enormously, though I have yet to fully absorb, strikes me immediately as a very powerful album.

    Currently wondering which member of the Manic Street Preachers is the Goldfrapp fan?

    Have a listen to the intro of "Europa Geht Durch Mich" from the new album if you wonder why ;o)



    Ahem.

    Ha ha - just spotted this in the review of the Manics album for The Quietus:-

    'Europa Geht Durch Mich' (Europe Passes Through Me) doesn't just sound like Goldfrapp: it plain goddamn IS Goldfrapp, to the extent that you can only burst out laughing the first time you hear that electro-glam schaffel intro, a synthesized klaxon blast every eighth beat, and realise that it isn't actually a cover of the Frapp's 'Train'. Wire can try throwing people off the scent by calling it an "industrial/dominatrix 'Nutbush City Limits'" till he's blue in the face, but he's fooling nobody.
