  • Never mind Clay, what about Stranger!!

If you listen very carefully at the start you can hear the guitar player has a cold. Keeps sniffing between the plucking.

that's my fav thing about it actually lol

Obviously I realise that is the sound of the fingers moving up the the
strings, but it's funny with today's technology you can decide whether
to take it out or leave it in. Having it in gives authenticity in an age
where we can re-create real instruments to almost pin point accuracy
    using technology.

The thing is I bet there is record out there
with a keyboard sampled guitar line and they added a 'finger string
slide' sample in the gaps. Like when people put crackle samples over
records to give the air of a sample when it's really been recreated.
    Give it a 'real' quality.

So although, with relation to the
click in Clay, it doesn't make any difference to me (I am pretty fussy
myself and i never heard until Stranger brought it up) I do get where
Stranger is coming from on this. It can seem trivial to most people but can drive some people mad. It's very personal. This is mine...

    Bent - Swollen.

    I
love!! this track. But some months after i heard it i noticed there was
a mechanical noise on the off beat of the drum sound, which i could
only describe as a 'chirping mechanical budgie'. Now this was not one
click it went all the way through the record. For a while it drove me up
the wall, and I could only focus on that sound ruining the whole record
for me. I even mentioned it to Simon (of the band) thinking it maybe a
sampling thing. But know it was deliberate and didn't stop it being
easily the band most popular record. The thing is i mentioned it to
poeple on the message board and for a few i started ruining the record
    for them aswell. :-/

    THANK YOU...................FIN
  • Honestly i like this aspect of Goldfrapp, its part of what makes them what they are. They aren't a polished within an inch of their life and beyond act, they don't do things in a proper studio for a reason, that kinda stuff tends to turn out stale and sterile and indistinguishable. These little things, the fact sometimes there's hiss here or pops there, it's part of the why they stand out.

that will be Alex breathing (through his nose). It's not a conspiracy!!

I also noticed that when I stayed at HJs guest house I could hear people snoring at night. Mind you, if they had been awake then they would have heard me farting.

    "its MY favourite song"
  • Some times I can actually hear people living.

Howdy, Stranger!
