Indeed, and all the more reason to be thankful for the kindness and kinship that one comes across. I happen to love the Brits and their culture. In my opinion they've offered the world a great deal more good than bad, there are many things to be proud of. Every culture has had slavery, even African and Indian civilizations, some are still engaging in the practice to this very day. Let's not beat ourselves over the head for things long past, events we had nothing to do with. Like you said above the world is a dangerous place and it's good to have friends one can count on, it's a blessing.
