  • Yes tomorrow's Birmingham gig cancelled due to illness. I hope Alison makes a very rapid recovery and the Brighton gig goes ahead
  • I think some fans are asking if they can re-schedule at the O2 institute, rather than having to do a complete cancellation.

I have been reading news of a very bad cold influenza heading towards the UK so it's no surprise.
  • Just read this on Twitter myself. Kat mentioned that at the Leicester gig she had a sore throat. I am only booked in for the Brixton gig at the end of the week so fingers crossed her recovery is swift for everyone.

oh gosh. bad news. before the gig started in Leicester the staff were placing all sorts of stuff on stage like glasses of water and what looked like nasal spray or something. Alison also mentioned her scratchy throat but badgered through the show like the issue didn't exist. It's best the time is spent getting better plus if she does try to carry on singing with a bad throat there could be some kind of permanent damage.

So who was at the Leicester gig? i was standing and pretty much at the front of the stage after having some rather intoxicated youths pop me there after they noticed how tall they were and how short i was. lol.
  • Ah. One up for the yoofs of today Cookie. Did it make you feel all Avuncular?

i thought it was quite sweet. they realised they pushed infront of me and my mate and then realised "oh crap, they can't see at all now because of our complete tallness"

    BUT...

Part of their group did push themselves towards the very front of the stage during the last two songs just so they could touch Alison's hand (which they got to)

Unfortunately them doing this ruined this poor girls view and also dancing space she had going on. the disappointment on her face was so obvious it left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth at the end of the gig. People can be inconsiderate twats when they want to...
  • She really needs to gargle salt water if she can withstand it.. And but buy some Vicks Chloraseptic throat spray. It stings but actually numbs the pain.

Sinus pressure is always the worse to deal with.
  • Poor Al- she apologised at Leicester for " bum notes"- not that we noticed! she gave us an amazing night as usual and I hope she makes a full recovery as quickly as possible but without pushing herself. Any comparisons between Aliso dfrap and Theresa May end here!
I'm hitting a few bum notes myself this am - got a colonoscopy later so I'm being quite musical lol. That was TMI, I know.
  • Get yourself over to James Pagett hospital Kat. My Sister in a nurse who works in the Collorectory clinic.
    Good luck !

  • Quite interesting that within the space of a day Alison goes on to perform in Brighton taking selfies etc?

Thats one hell of a recovery to be honest. And id love to know who her doctor is, because trying to get a GP appointment at my surgery is like gold-dust!!

    Hmm.... anyway.

  • Brighton was brilliant, this review sums it up well http://www.theargus.co.uk/leisure/arts_and_entertainments/15647656.Goldfrapp__Brighton_Dome__November_7________________/
Alison was on great form - a plentiful supply of hot toddies seemed to do the trick of lubricating the vocal cords.
Highlight for me was seeing Zodiac Black performed for the first time...sublime

  • I doubt she consulted a GP Serenity. Like most vocalists, I bet she has access to a specialist in the field.

  • Whatever you do, Serenity, don't say that on Twitter.
If I were dead, could I do this?
  • David Baxter- you take amazing photos.
  • Iuventus- would I heck? There may be fire coming out of the screen! [-X

By the way what I said about doctors I said with sarcasm because my surgery is bat shit useless. In actual fact I just hike it down to the walk in centre instead.

In Spain my nan told me that you can buy antibiotics over the counter!
