I think that's John Williams at the podium. "Le Cygne" is one of the most beautiful little songs; ideal to show off the cello's song-like voice. For certain, it's the most gorgeous and descriptive piece from the Carnival of the Animals.
Sibelius' "Swan of Tuonela" also captures the grace of the swan quite well.
In the House Salman Rushdie Iuv. Never thought it was the real one as he is not a conductor ( to the best of my knowledge). Does look like him though !
The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ. Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit. Shall lure it back to cancal half a line, Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.
In the House? An Appy61 concept. Where you see someone on the train, or in a restaurant who looks a lot like a famous person. You turn to a friend you are with, or take a sneaky pic of the person and tweet it, with the phrase ' *** in the house' Thus: 'Super Mario in the House !'
The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ. Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit. Shall lure it back to cancal half a line, Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.
Nimrod, Enigma variation No 9 by Edward Elgar. Written by Elgar for his friend, Augustus Jaegar, who encouraged Elgar to continue writing music when he was suffering from fits of depression.

I do like a bit of Erik Satie. Mrs T likes his chicken !

Love that. "Carnival of the Animals" and especially "Peter and the Wolf" were probably the two compositions that turned me on to classical music as a child.
