  • Good-o. Oh to have a sibling to talk to about Anything. I'm not an only child but may as well be and it makes me v sad.
  • That's why you have us :D
I have a big Sis, 7 years my senior. She is a nurse. Very down to earth and practical as nurses generally are ( or the job destroys them).
The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ.
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit.
Shall lure it back to cancal half a line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.

What is done in the dark will always come to light
  • Just got time before I dash off ( actually...trudge off, head down, knuckles grazing the floor....).....
That Catherine and I are having our Civil Partnership on August 14th on the Isle Of Wight. We have no guests apart from our two dogs and are going there as my parents' ashes are scattered there. If anyone is down Newport way then let me know! If not then we will press gang a couple of passers by to be witnesses!
  • Congratulations, Kat! that's lovely news. Have a fantastic day.

Is it like a funeral? Erm - better rephrase that. Are you going to choose music and readings and that?

If yes, what? Do you need any advice for that "special night"? (I know a sex education specialist who might have some tips)

    :D :x %%- (%) (*) @};- :-* :-j (%) :) %%- ~:> ;) :) :D :x (%) :)
  • Congratulations, Kat.  That's wonderful.
  • Yes, we do get to choose our own music, write our own vows etc. we really wanted the dogs to be the ring bearers but they're not allowed unfortunately. Could nominate the tortoises, which would give Catgerine time to change her mind while waiting I guess!
As for music, well.....obviously there will be a Frapp toon. There have always been three women in our relationship lol. It has to be RAWH as we exchanged our commitment rings, crikey, 5 years ago, on the site of the Westbury White Horse ( there's more to that story, but that's private!). Drew is another favourite of ours. What to do.....

Newport is the only part of IOW that I've not been to! Mmm interesting.
Anyway, congratulations Kat, happy for you both :-*

Aw, I knew this was the news you were alluding to..congratulations! Finally, right?! I feel as if it's almost better, just being the two of you. A sacred ceremony, a spirtual union. Have you designed the rings yourselves? I found a golden wedding band on the beach once, with the word "Everlasting" engraved into it. So many ways to personalize them. ...and the vows! Let's talk about the vows! Ahh, writing then reading personal vows to each other almost makes me swoon! :x :x :x

  • Here's a little song I discovered as a teenager. It was the 90's and I was in my first band. My best friend was a jazz guitarist who studied under Pat Metheny. For inspiration, we would scour thrift shops for old records. He came across one by Julie London and we laughed at the 50's style cover. We played it and I was taken with her silky voice. I find this era of music particularly romantic-

(Darn, it won't play- here's the only clip that will. "The Nearness of You". Yeah, it sounds like something out of your Grandma's collection-but oh so smooth and romantic.)

  • Thank you all. I'm stressing about the vows bit despite having five months still to think of them. I'm not usually short of things to say...!
I agree PG, the 50s is often portrayed as a particularly romantic era. I love the fashion from that period too. Re the rings- we have thought about designing each other's but have found a lovely design on the Internet. Still mulling over the music. I wonder if there will be something that hits the spot on the new album?
  • ¡Felicidades, Kat!

I hope it's nothing like this:

If I were dead, could I do this?
  • Ha ha! I didn't know there were videos of the earliest Kate stuff, I shall have to explore later. She was bonkers then and hopefully still bonkers now :x
