    Whereabouts are your parents from?

    Near Trim, Co Meath.

Sorry but I'm going to have to take those copies of Blazing Saddles and BBC Radiophonic Music and, er, test them for......quality.  Yeah that's it quality. Please forward ASAP to softlad at the usual address.

  • This was my last haul - all for less that £7 all in.

nice one, yes that's the CD I have too, mine was a xmas pressie, but it certainly retails at more than that just for that CD, good finds. Funnily enough I got a Debussy  and horror sound effects CD from the local recently, both 50p! I also picked up that same b52s a while ago too.

    Here's a belter I got for 50p this week

I don't know how people get on with looking for vinyl, it must be so frustrating / heartbreaking.  Finding excellent sleeves only to examine the surface of the record to find it scratched to feck. Or even worse, getting the record home only to find a scratch that's naked to the eye is making the needle jump.  Too dispiriting.  You know where you are with CD's.

  • Do you reckon softlad? I've found the odd CD looks like it will play OK but has faults with it, but generally a CD is always the best option for clarity of sound yes. Old vinyls are going to have a lot of tales. Imagine if I popped into a charity shop and picked up a vinyl you had owned :-O :)>-

  • I had to pay 4,50 euros for these vinyls...
I frankly don't care if they're scratched at all. I just take the risk. Couldn't care less.
That's my risk. THose 4,50 are well spend imho.

  • What's that about £3?

People like vinyl sleeves as decoration also don't they ;)

I spent a small fortune having all my records cleaned by an fully authorised Vinyl Hygienist.

Plan B is a bust; perhaps you should move right to plan DD.

If I were dead, could I do this?

  • Brilliant service.  The little hole in the middle gets cleaned too but I won't go into details here.  Suffice to say two can be done at a time.

I might have to do that yes.

Seriously related to this subject, what do some of you vinyl junkies use to ensure that your vinyls are  clean and dust free?

Please share your vinyl cleaning techniques here if you wish.

    I am genuinely interested.

  • It's the old 'how long is a piece of string' story.
Anti-static cloth.  Cleaning Fluid.  Specialist cleaning brush.  There are devices you can build yourself, devices you can buy - these are essentially record 'baths' where the vinyl gets rotated in a specially formulated fluid.  Then there's the hardcore view - you shouldn't clean vinyl as any cleaning can only cause wear and therefore harm.  Look after your records and your records will look after you and so forth.
Records take a lot more looking after than good old CDs.
