I think Laura is going to that one if you want to check with her?? Im going to Birmingham. Annoyed really as for both Anna and Goldfrapp both doing Brighton and I cant do either as too far
    :-((

Ah cheers, I'll check with Laura. :-)

Too far, Helen? I'm coming from Cornwall. Keith from Scotland. Una from Ireland! Being on a weekend means, for most, no time off work would have to be taken. Just saying...
  • I am indeed going to the feb brighton / hove show. It's such a beautiful venue for music, seen Cam do a couple of shows there, it'll suit Anna perfectly :)
  • Never worked out how to quote/refer to twitter but the Anna Calvi twitter page reports that her support acts for the UK tour will be Anna Meredith and Womans Hour.

As in Womans Hour the band not the Radio 4 programme, which would have been quite sublimely silly.

Off to find some virgins to sacrifice to the Gig Gods that they are not as bad as Cold Specks and the other nameless one at Somerset House last year.
  • PS

Oh hey, IM'd my folkie friend, aren't these people in one of those bloody gay bands you keep on about, sending me this link  ... Under pictures of dulcimer porn (don't ask) the punchline is

"Daniel Maiden-Wood left the band giving one weeks notice in
the week that The second album One Breath was released October 2013! "

Looks like we were right and the best wishes did translate as DIE BASTARD DIE.

  • The single of Suddenly and a rather lovely lesbionic cover of Springsteen's Fire has been released early - Amazon MP3s or itunes.

Or vinyl if you're into deferred gratification.
  • She's adorable. Check this out bless her

I wanted to say Merry Christmas to you, I hope this year has given you what you wished for.. .

I just had the first tour of my new record One Breath, and it’s been really wonderful to play again, and to see some of you along the way. I remember the electricity of the show in Strasbourg…and being shown Marie Antoinette’s private chamber at the Palace of Fontainebleau, where we filmed a performance of Love of My Life.. and later performing a very raucous version of Foxy Lady to some bemused Blogotheque staff..

.I remember seeing my dear friend Peter Deimel (who engineered my records) and his wife at our show in Angers..I remember the show in Clermont-Ferrand, where the lights were dim and we played huddled up together, synchronising and collectively expressing a moment…

I remember driving through the Spanish countryside listening to Tim Buckley’s Happy Sad.. I remember the warmth and passion of the Spanish audiences..the beautiful old theatre in Madrid.. meeting a charming English woman in Barcelona who I recognised from my last performance in this city..

And lastly, taking a long stroll along the river in Porto with Mally, meeting some lovely Portuguese fans, and feeling really overwhelmed by the Portuguese audiences for their generosity and passion.

    See you next year,

    with love,

    Anna x
  • Awww ... that's so sweet.

I like the way that she seems much more approachable and open in twitter/tumblr stuff than in actual interviews. Let's hope no mad moronic fans change that.

Here I am hours away from having to pretend to the rellies that getting the Troxy ticket in the post this morning isn't a pressie much better than anything they have got me.

This may require chemical aid. Rum and cornflakes anybody?

Aw Hells, that's so kind, I'll take the will for the deed!! As it turned out champagne breakfast all round made us float through the day on a fluffy pink cloud of benevolence, until some fool got the monopoly board out.

Meanwhile, back in the Annaverse, there's a review of the video here, which did make me smile in the way it latches on to isolation, frustration and madness - talk about people seeing the same thing in different ways. Only the problem is I now can't see the video as it was  intended, so think before you click.
  • ^ Certainly is! I liked the way she said what she liked about the songs, otherwise I'd have been baffled, cos her taste is not mine ...

    Quite liked Suicide though.

The band, people, the band: Xmas wasn't that bad!
  • Yeah not a bad list. The pic of Anna is a good one. With her hair down again. HOT WOMAN.

  • It's definitely a good look for her!
