  • I would almost bet that Comey is not going to accuse Trump of anything in his hearing.  Maybe I'm just being paranoid but it seems to me a game is being played.  The usual game of distraction but with the added twist of 'where's the queen'.  Or, maybe 'who's on first'.  I think it's a game of discrediting witnesses.

Naomi Klein's "Shock Doctrine" was one of the best books on politics I've read in a long time. She's just published a new book on the Trump presidency, which continues her basic thesis that present-day capitalism engineers huge shocks to political systems so as to disorientate and confuse any opposition. Under cover of "defending against terror", it enacts laws to open up new markets and remove legal and constitutional obstacles to corporate takeover. Chile in the 70s, Russia post Gorbachov, Iraq and Libya are obvious examples

As she says, Trump is a perfect illustration of the way the game is played, only this time in the USA. He has rushed through a huge number of executive orders to remove environmental protection, and installed representatives of huge corporations into the government. His crazy tweets and bizarre stunts are part of the strategy of shock, disorientation and distraction. Whilst the arms industry completes its takeover of the US Defence policy, the citizenry are preoccupied by the craziness of covfefe.

Mueller is closer than we know and Trump thinks he is going to jail.
The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ.
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit.
Shall lure it back to cancal half a line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.

  • Try shouting the word “ Tesco!”
No really, Stop! Stop! The delivery van’s here!
  • I suppose you all knew about The Donald’s aftershave range, yeah? A squirt of Trump juice anyone? Apparently it smells of cucumber, a pretty mundane bit of info there.
