O.Kaaaaaaaaaaaaay...... The following appear to be the internet's accepted version of the lyrics to 'White Soft Rope':
Behind an endless rose and light Well everybody knows Trees are bowing to the wind They're singing just for you
White soft rope White soft rope
Handsome boy and girl You taunted til it broke Sun has eyes And sea is clear A generic world is clean
White soft rope White soft rope
A sunny smile A generic world is clean A sunny smile A generic world is clean A sunny smile A generic world is clean A sunny smile A generic world is clean
White soft rope Is methin White soft rope White soft rope
I've two questions: 1) Towards the end the 'children' sing the refrain "A sunny smile, A generic world is clean" which is fine excpet for the fact that they sing something else after the word 'smile'. Any idea what it is? Currently going with "And double cream" for now. :(
2) What the hell is 'methin'? :-O I'm suspecting a Goldfrapp in-joke but maybe someone else knows different....
It seems a lot of written lyrics found on-line these days are done by software, not humans. Sub titles on TV certainly are, some of the complete gobbledegook they come out with.
I suspect this is the origin of 'And every-time I think of you, I see the darki, hear their hooves'.
The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ. Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit. Shall lure it back to cancal half a line, Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.
