  • You win on the teapot.  Mine's got pretty big holes so some leaves sneak through.

But, omigod, whispered suggestion was a revelation.  Tea can play so many parts.  Tonight for instance, I was thinking of whispered's suggestion of tea so think that the spoon stick up in the cup (paraphrasing from my cajun days) and decided to try it.  It was one of those nights where everything is done in excess so, heck, why not the tea.  So, now, I can see that tea can be used and varied to suit the occasion.  Very subtle, very nice.  I really like the idea of re-using the same tea.  Especially after I made it as thick as mud the night before and used Palmiers as crumpets (never had a crumpet).  Palmiers are heavenly.
  • The tea adventure continues!

So, I decided I don't like the super strong tea.  Reminds me too much of coffee.  Of course, I don't put sugar or cream in either and that may be part of the problem (not that I'm going to change).

I also found that one pot of tea a day is sufficient.  I was drinking probably close to a gallon before.  But, then again, a nice light tea in the afternoon (cup rather than pot) with a couple of palmiers might be in order.  Still can't tell much difference between Assam, Queen Anne, English Breakfast and Royal Blend.  I guess I just have to give it more time...
  • i'm on pure ginger root infusions atm, which sounds somewhat ascetic. i spoil the effect by making it with milk
  • For a few years I was dicing up a handful of ginger root and snacking on it.  Love the stuff and so very good for you.  My latest is gensing extract.  Yaow!!!!
  • You know, I don't think tea can replace my morning coffees.  It just doesn't have the kick, even in potent form.
  • ^ I think tea contains natural fluoride, which kinda over-rides the caffeine kick. I love ginger too, I have yet to try ginseng..powerful stuff?

What is done in the dark will always come to light
  • Supposedly, it's the tannic acid that reduces the effect of the caffeine.

The ginseng extract is crazy powerful.  Like you put a couple of drops in a cup with water and you're off like a rocket.
  • Maybe I just put more Breakfast blend tea in the pot than usual but, whew!, that's almost as strong as coffee!  It's pretty nice but I have to tone it down some.
  • That would make me sick to my stomach.
If I were dead, could I do this?
  • Hehehe.  You have no idea how strong my coffee is.  But, yeah, I won't make it that strong, again.
  • Tea to help sleep anyone? Although I have no difficulty dropping off, and am sleepy all day long, I always wake after 5-10 minutes of dreaming, and never reach deep sleep.

    I am desperate!

  • I don't drink coffee, so tea is instrumental in not falling asleep when I'm tired (or working after sleepless night). Maybe it's due to placebo effect thought, but  most important thing it helps.

    I'm a tea barbarian though :P

  • Don't really have a certain type of tea, I usually just drink the regular "british" tea. Yeno, the brown leaf water.
And it works pretty well to help me feel relaxed. Deep breathing usually works for me too.

Went on a coffee binge in my teens but eventually reached what I call peak caffeine. I rarely drink it now, mostly stick to tea and hot chocolate. Only in my twenties but I feel old.
    :P

  • You're kidding, Low.  It seems like you've been around here forever.  You must just be an old soul (that's a good thing).  You come across as such.

Yah, I did the same with coffee, though I still drink it.  I'm always thirsty and the office always had coffee.  I went through gallons a day, it seemed.  It was funny, after the fact, that I could recognize just how wired I had been.  I try to stick to two pretty strong ones early in the morning.  I am slowly trying to switch to a pot of tea every morning, instead but, it's difficult.  Long story there.

Wow, didn't know I had that effect with my online presence! But then it's not the first time I've crossed the "old soul" remark  :P

It is hard, isn't it? It's almost like temptation... is that what addiction feels like?
    :-O
