you mean, it's really not just me then?!!

No, it's definitely not just you.  For instance, on windows, if I select some words in a quote, those words are highlighted.  Not so with Apple.
  • I'm really fascinated with the whole twitter pheonomenon.  I mean, really, someone who uses twitter would be a twit, right?  Did they do that on purpose??!?!
  • Am I right in thinking the only way to see the Tales film properly, as in all in one segment with the segments flowing each video together, is to buy it on iTunes?
  • Do you think the two monitors for this website are still in action?
  • Ok, sorry to get all medical etc...but has anyone on here had spinal fusion surgery?! Or know of anyone who has? Cos that's what's on the horizon for me ( I should never have made those jokes about posting my head to UT!!). I'm pretty scared to say the least. Any comfort would be appreciated ( horror stories best kept to yourself please!). :((
  • I've a coworker who had it done years ago. She says that it's limited her movement a bit, but it's completely solved the pain.
If I were dead, could I do this?
  • I know someone who had this to cure recurrent back pain and it worked fine.
I think the space in my cabinet for your fine cranium will remain empty for sometime yet Kat !

  • Thats a hard decision, KatRobin. You must've had some really tough times to be at that point. But Ive nothing helpful to add, sorry XXXXX
  • @Kat Is it your cervical vertebrae? Like C5-C6? Herniated or blown disc? Just wonderin'
-oh, does it stem from your car accident, like a whiplash injury?

  • That's very astute PG :) yep, I was diagnosed as having C6 collapsed vertebra in my neck last year, which was causing nerve pain on my left side, but in recent months I've had numbness and pain in my right arm too, suggesting that the disc has mushed up further ( I ought to wait for the specialist to confirm it). Could be that it relates to past whiplash, not sure. But I'm in a quandary what to do. I turned down the op last year, but now things are worse and I know it won't go away, I guess I should go for it. It would mean quite a while recupe after. How nice it would be if there were a new GF album to make life easier next year....! ( Does that sound like emotional blackmail lol!). Just sayin...!!!!
  • Just another thought ( Alison, if you're listening!)...Lovely Head Part 2? I can supply screaming backing vocals if required?
  • @Kat- I actually studied Western medicine..:), but prefer a holistic approach now. Your nerve root is compressed, and needs decompression. Anywho, here's some things that might help-

1.) I know you're crafty, make a rice heating pad :) Get some rectangular material, like half a pillow case sewn up or old knee sock- fill it with rice and microwave for a minute. When draped around your neck, it should give an hour's worth of heat.
2.) Change your pillow to something soft and flat..like an understuffed feather pillow. The trick is not to compress the nerve root further when you're sleeping.
3.) At work, make sure you raise your computer screen..so you're looking at the top of it without bending your neck.

If you can, get massage. Moist heat then gentle stretching massage to allow blood flow and oxygen into cells. That and if you can get a course of ultrasound for a couple of months to allow for penetrating heat. It's a common injury and painful I know, poor thing. If you need surgery, I've known people who have had great results. Keep us updated on severity of compression.

  • Bless you Ponygurl for being so kind. I already have or do all of the above and they help a little. But doing my crafts is proving difficult now, I'm in tears after only twenty minutes of sewing, which is ridiculous. I'm sure surgery will be needed, but I will let you know. I'm very touched by your nice comments :-*
  • So, are teabags considered bad form in England?  Like it affects the flavour?
  • Teabags. OK for work time when you are in a hurry but, at home? Teapot and loose tea every time!
