    Second that!
  • Radiohead are favourite as of yestersday - some mush has bet £15K that it's them and all bets are off! That really pisses me off!

What if the Hokey Cokey is what it's all about?
  • Wow!  Radiohead would be interesting, just in that they've been around soooo long.
  • I'll just leave this list of deserving artists here, in case Sam Mendes drops by for a visit:

    -Goldfrapp (obviously)

    -Stevie Nicks / Fleetwood Mac

    -BJORK. FREAKIN' BJORK.

    -Kate Bush

    -Kylie

    -Birdy

    -CHVRCHES

    -Dido. WHY HASN'T THIS HAPPENED?

    -Donna Lewis. CALL HER ALREADY!

    -Zella Day

    -Cairo

-Jann Arden (THIS would be amazing)

    :-\"

  • ^ Okay!  They're fixed up for the next thirty years!

    And, in that order, please!

I love them, but i think they're a bit too bleep bloop for bond.
  • So its Sam Smith.

    Fuck.
  • Horribly predictable I suppose. Disappointing that something as important and genre defining as the the Bond series; a franchise that so many other films feel the need to emulate ( and generally fall short), feels the need to curry fashion in such a flagrant way. If it had been my franchise (Barbara) I would want the theme to be something equally genre defining. Goldfrapp would have been classy and lush beyond belief; Alison's seductive voice and Will's towering strings a wonderful canvas on which to render the latest Bond. If not Goldfrapp, Muse would have been a great choice. Incredibly popular and a theme by them would have been of Epic scale!
Oh well. If if's and and's were pots and pans.
The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ.
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit.
Shall lure it back to cancal half a line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.
  • Oh suprise! :O

Congrats to Mr. Smith, I guess. I mean, I like his voice and he's quite all right but it would be nice to have seen the producers stretch themselves a bit (like they were trying to with Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace theme songs, though those arguably left much to be desired).

Honestly I'm just disappointed that Goldfrapp will never get the chance to write and perform a Bond theme, which they were obviously born to do.

    Actually, I guess they have already written several of the best Bond themes that never were;

    Human
    Paper Bag
    Pilots
    Utopia
    Lovely Head
    Time Out From The World
    Cologne Cerrone Houdini
    Stranger

So yeah, I guess it's ok. It would just be so sarisfying for Alyson and Will to be recognized in that rare group of songwriters and singers that have done a Bond theme.
  • Yes, Sam Smith! Because the world needs more bland, mediocre and predictable songs.

  • So its Sam Smith.

    Fuck.

Pretty much my reaction too. If not Frapp I was hoping for Paloma. Even Ellie, but nah they pick the guy famous for the most stalker-ish song ever written. Seriously if you presented those lyrics out of context to the authorities he'd be locked up!

  • I just heard it on The One Show and I'm pissed off too. Just thinking myself lucky that I'm into Goldfrapp and aware of all their wonderful back collection with so many Bond-like and Non-Bond gems, that maybe so many people are missing out on. We've discussed this before . Let's all count ourselves blessed.
  • Ps UT, I trust you're watching /will watch The One Show tonight. Your pal Toyah, and the Duran Duran boys are on it.

Missed it. Will have to go onto I Player. Can never get it to work properly. It's a mystery.

Howdy, Stranger!
