  • Middle-men....aaaaaarrrrrrrggggghhhhhhh!  Sometimes I think they are the bane of mankind.
  • Yes, for them it seems a win win situation.
I have a friend on Twitter, from the old Toyah days, who earns his living by writing. He has recently noticed that he is now being asked to pay to submit short stories to publishers to cover admin costs. As they cherry pick what they see as the best to fill their publications, is this not part of the cost of producing this publication? Putting a submission charge in surely puts some people off putting things forward?

  • ^I actually think it goes deeper than that.  With all of the money that the central banks have been putting out there, it has done little good for the common man (or company).  All of that wealth has been sucked up by those that are already wealthy.  So, one set of scoundrels that caused the havoc has been supplanted with another set of scoundrels (same ones maybe?) that have benefitted  the most from the havoc caused.  So, money is still scarce and people have to go to greater lengths to make a business work.  But, yeah, it may very well be just greed, as well.

I have a more disturbing conspiracy theory that worries me even more.  I was reading a BBC story not long ago that mentioned where ISIS came from.  There was a camp set up in Iraq during and after the war that placed a lot of radicals in close communications and, then, they were just let loose.  This disturbs me because it just seems way too coincidental.  It's like there was no good "enemy" to direct the public's attention.  So, did some group of people decide that they needed to "manufacture" an enemy to distract the public?  Of course, the alternative is not unrealistic, either.  Incompetence and ineptness of the human race.  On the whole, the human race seems to like to get along, but all of this "us and them" shit just gets in the way.

  • Wasn't there the same theroy about Al-Queda? Perhaps they were not scary enough!
What cracks me up is the view some of the media have that mirrors that of Spectre in the Bond films, with some Blofeld type No 1 plotting and planning at the top.
They are very fond of cats in the Middle East ! :-?

  • Goodness, there are so many movies that seem to be conspiracy theories.  I usually like to take the view that it is like the difference between communism an democracy.  The former is people taking advantage of other people and the latter is just the opposite.  Actually, I've been doing a little studying of the Nordic systems of democracy.  They seem to be very well done.  People may actually be more important than corporations and greed there.

  • I've talked to alot that complain about the taxes, which is supposedly used for the sake of the people to help in whatever is needed.  The people.  That's what government should be about, if anything at all.  But, you know, the U.S. government was supposedly set up "by the people, for the people", etc.  That is certainly not true.  Maybe it was at some point, but not anymore.  It is a government by the lobbies, corporations, and rich people for the lobbies, corporations, and rich people.  It's a farce, it's a parasite.  The Nordic counties' governments, at least, seem to take this to heart.
  • Back to the thougts concerning the internet, sometimes it makes me think of the ultimate tower of babble.

Haha!  I finally got around to going to this site.  How perfect!  I hope they made millions.
  • Decided nature notes was probably not the best place to post this.

Like I said, it's probably a terrible idea, but....

Those of you in Florida may want to pay close attention.
  • Damn, but there are just so many fascinating things being discovered nowadays...

And, as I've said before, it is just so easy to be rude in text that it can, much more easily, be done - and/or perceived where none is intended, inadvertently.  I hope it's not a trend.
  • Pretty cool...

    Riftworld Chronicles

They are trying to get funding for a full series on Kickstarter.  Errr, actually, the 40 minutes might be the whole deal that kickstarter funded....?

  • I had the "privilege" of using an Apple desktop the other day.  This site really sucks using it.  So, I've found another reason why people may avoid this site.
  • you mean, it's really not just me then?!!
  • I access it mainly with an Apple IPad.
I will not be beaten ! :ar!
