If you are interested in thinking more on this general theme, and especially on how we might find a way out of our current headlong destruction of Nature, I would really recommend reading around E O Wilson's work on "Biophilia". He's completely clueless on economics and class, but very good on other things. Here's a sample:
How depressing....links with what's being said in the Conspiracy Theories thread.... Sometimes, ignorance is bliss...but when you know you're being deliberately evasively ignorant, then..well, the guilt and self hate kicks in again. Pass me the gin!
Ps Something very cheesy about that woman in the article though. She should have tried to get a thicker rind, change her name to Edam! ( I know...not even remotely funny...just trying to lighten the mood...)
Wow, this Rave thread has become a bit maudlin ! Look, in France, when you go to a burger bar, they offer you a happy ending !
The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ. Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit. Shall lure it back to cancal half a line, Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.
Agreed iuv. Two words she used- "compassion" and "empathy", so important..and what a gracious delivery. I personally have always thought of sex and gender as two separate things. One is of the physical body- one of the mind. We are our minds- our feelings. I don't even feel as if we are separate genders at all- but a range of feelings and expression..it is and has always been within the structure of Nature..a Natural Law. That is what should be taught, in order to eliminate fear. Respect- another perfect word.....oh, if only all of mankind could respect nature. It should be innate- but, it seems it must be taught.
