But yes, as Ping says, a lot of the North Sea and most of the English Channel was dry land until the end of the last Ice Age. Fishermen over Dogger Bank and other areas regularly bring up stone axes and mammoth bones and the like in their nets.
Ironically, a large part of central North America was underwater at about the same time - Lake Agassiz.
