I hope that you die in a decent pair of shoes
You got a lot more walking to do where you're going to.
  • ^ Beautiful list. Props for Max Richter! Have you heard his take on Vivaldi's Four Seasons? Another stunning album.
I had a king in a tenement castle, lately he's taken to painting the pastel walls brown. He's taken the curtains down. He's swept with the broom of contempt, and the rooms have an empty ring. He's cleaned with the tears of an actor who fears for the laughter's sting...

Thank you.  I have his take on the Four Seasons.  I must say however that I can't wait for a propper new album.  He has been working on quite a few soundtracks, but I'm longing for a new album really.  Blue Notebooks and Memoryhouse are my favourites.

I love that Joni song by the way.  She has three albums on my all time fave albums list.

  • Always a little in flux but

    Bjork - Homogenic
    Goldfrapp - Felt Mountain
    Junior Boys - Last Exit
    Neko Case - Blacklisted
    Esthero - Breathe From Another
Antony & The Johnsons - Swanlights
    Burial - Untrue
    Poe - Hello
    Depeche Mode - Violator
Tori Amos - Boys For Pele
PJ Harvey - Is This Desire
Chet Baker - My Funny Valentine
Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral
Iron And Wine - Shephard's Dog
    Tricky - Maxenquaye
    Portishead - Dummy
Billie Holiday - Lady In Autumn
    Imogen Heap - iMegaphone
    Trespasser William - Different Stars
Amy Winehouse - Back To Black
Underworld - A Hundred Days Off
Melody Gardot - My One And Only Thrill

These are not in order although Bjork's Homogenic has been my favorite album since it was released and Goldfrapp's Felt Mountain a close second but other than that it's to hard to put them in order.

PJ Harvey - Is This Desire

I know so many people who love Is This Desire. Sadly, I have tried to get into it since it was released, and it has little appeal to me. I'm more a Dry / To Bring You My Love fan. I even prefer Uh Huh Her, which my friends find ridiculous.

    Great list by the way.

  • To be honest I can't think of a single PJ Harvey album that I don't like but based on the "fave album" criteria I laid out for myself, no weak songs, album flow, themes and whatnot 'Is This Desire' is my favorite.

It's a rather dark and violent album...it works very well for me when I'm feeling particularly angry.

I do love Dry and To Bring You My Love.

  • Depeche Mode - Violator
Goldfrapp - Head First [I expect this to change to Tales of Us]
    Recoil - Bloodline
    Client - City
Jean Michel Jarre - Concerts In China
Mylène Farmer -  Ansi Soit Je
Mesh - In This Place Forever
    Björk - Vespertine Live
Though we may deserve it, it will be worth it.
  • Mmmm, Vespertine live is like the most sensuous hour of making love! I really love her entire catalogue but especially her first four albums are spectacular and the live albums from each of those album's tours are really amazing as well.
  • This is kinda hard for me because there are a lot of albums that I love a few songs from but don't like the whole album. I'll just post the albums where I could continuously listen to and not skip a song (or just skip one song):

    Avril Lavigne - Let Go
    Britney Spears - Blackout
    Charli XCX - True Romance
Depeche Mode - Playing the Angel
    Depeche Mode - Delta Machine
    Ellie Goulding - Halcyon
    Fever Ray - Fever Ray
Florence + the Machine - Lungs
    The Golden Filter - Voluspa
    The Golden Filter - Syndromes
    Goldfrapp - Felt Mountain
    Goldfrapp - Black Cherry
    Goldfrapp - Supernature
    Goldfrapp - Seventh Tree
    Goldfrapp - Head First
    Grimes - Visions
    Hilary Duff - Dignity
    iamamiwhoami; bounty
    iamamiwhoami; kin
Imogen Heap - Speak For Yourself
    The Knife - Silent Shout
    Lady Gaga - The Fame
Lady Gaga - The Fame Monster
Lady Gaga - Born This Way
Lana Del Rey - Born to Die
    Lana Del Rey - Paradise
    Lindsay Lohan - Speak
Lindsay Lohan - A Little More Personal (RAW)
    Little Boots - Hands
    Little Boots - Nocturnes
    M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming
Marina and the Diamonds - The Family Jewels
Marina and the Diamonds - Electra Heart
    Madonna - American Life
Madonna - Confessions on a Dance Floor
    Purity Ring - Shrines
    Selena Gomez - Stars Dance
    t.A.T.u. - 200 KM/H in the Wrong Lane
    t.A.T.u. - Dangerous and Moving
    Yeasayer - Fragrant World

    Don't make fun of me =;
  • At least you know "some people" on this board will be inclined to...

I don't really understand the music bashing that happens sometimes...I guess when I was younger I was more of a snob but my tastes have expanded hugely over the last 15 years and continue to everyday so I would never make fun of someone for liking something that I don't.

Though I am inclined to keep my guilty pleasures on the down low...

But to help deflect any potential abuse you may get I will stand up and confess my love for one of Madonna's most reviled albums - American Life (I even like the rapping in the title track). >:D<
