Silver Eye reviews
  • I figured we could start a collection of the reviews that come out, just so we don't have to wade through the main album post to find them. I know this one's already been posted/talked about there, but would be nice to have easy access.

Slant: A middling 3/5 that seems fixated on the feeling that they "don't push their sound enough." Though reviews that don't sound like hasty first impressions are few and far between from them, so taken with a grain of salt...

  • My own review is now live. Check it out!

It's gorgeous. Really blown away by this, cohesively.

  • The thread is called "Era 7 inteviews".

Hate to see it get confused...
  • Surely, that is for interviews WW. This is for reviews where hacks get their chance to get the knife out and we rip them to bits/pat them on the back

The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ.
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit.
Shall lure it back to cancal half a line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.

  • I'm just marking all viewed.
If I were dead, could I do this?
  • Sorry, that makes sense to keep the two separate.
  • Play nice kids. Let's be careful out the there !

  • Errr, I don't understand.  I was just acknowledging my mistake.

Yep, got that WW. Someone who has never made a mistake has never made anything!
So, to be clear, SE interviews in Interview thread, reviews in the review thread.

  • Interviews on Sex Ed???!?!
  • Whatever floats your boat.
A man is asked by the local woman's guild to give a talk, so he decides to go with a subject he really knew a lot about, so he went with sex. Not wishing to tell his wife exactly what he was planning, when she asked, he told her his talk would be on sailing.
The night of the talk come and he delivered his talk to the ladies, coming across as very knowledgeable and enthralling them for over an hour with his insight on the subject.
The following day, one of the ladies who had heard the talk stopped the man's wife in the supermarket and said how impressed she was by the husbands talk and how much he seemed to know about the subject.
The wife replied 'Well, that really surprises me. We've actually only done it twice. The first time he was sick, and the second time, his hat blew off'!

Finally, someone who gets it. No more 3 stars lacklustre reviewing.

  • Agreed. Finally a reviewer that respects the music AND the band, and isn't just trying to churn out one more piece to meet a deadline. Very thoughtfully written.

"A subtle, often wicked subversion of the familiar."

Now that is how you write one hell of a good review. Comparing the album to Garbage and Vangelis? Yeah, I'm sold.
