I miss the lengthy thread we had about Natasha on the old GMB but this seems a good time to start a new one.
You probably know this but she has written a song for a forthcoming album 'Body of Songs' where various artists contribute work inspired by medical science and the human body (no jokes/sniggering/ooh-er comments now!) Natasha has put forward 'Skin Song' and it's typically sensual and even a little eerie. You can hear it at: http://pitchfork.com/news/55847-bat-for-lashes-shares-skin-song/
It was recently revealed that she has a song on the forthcoming soundtrack album for the film 'Hunger Games: Mockingjay Pt1'. It's called 'Plan the Escape' and is a cover of a track by Son Lux (described as a post-rock and alternative hip-hop musician based in New York). Apparently a dark & gloomy piece, it was previewed online the other day but doesn't seem to be available today at http://consequenceofsound.net/2014/11/bat-for-lashes-covers-son-luxs-plan-the-escape-listen/ There's a clip on YouTube and the whole soundtrack album is there but as it's released this week, we should get to hear it quite easily.
Hopefully we'll get a new Bat for Lashes album in 2015. Hopefully some gigs too, and even better, one that many of us from the GMB can all meet up for, just as in October 2012. Even if it's not on Halloween Jack's birthday, I'm sure it would be a fantastic night out :)
Looking forward to a new album, her live performances are always a great experience. Unless someone next to you keeps throwing pieces of paper with strange text on the stage.. :)
I love Skin Song and Garden's Heart....they're great additions while I impatiently wait for a new album.
Most of the videos I watch on my phone are Bat For Lashes gig videos sourced from youtube....she sounds so good live...can't wait for another concert in my area
I heard Laurel this morning on the radio. Had not really listened to it before and It was delightful. Natasha's vocal was at the same time expressive and controlled. A recommendation for the best place to start a listening session?
The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ. Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit. Shall lure it back to cancal half a line, Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.
Not sure if anyone had the same problem. wen't to pre-order over on iTunes and the track that automatically downloads isn't playing properly... it plays, but with no sound... :/
