Tech Support... Please help!

I think it may have been a 64 GB one with which I had problems.

Wow! I'm guessing your computer is pretty old? Mine is probably close to a decade old and has no problem with the stick, though I have a couple of external hard drives that confuses it.

I'm not really sure. I think that the computer may date to 2005 (though I haven't been keeping track of its birthdays). It's fine with an external hard drive, but seems to believe that it needs to format one of the larger memory sticks. (And it concludes that it is unable to format the stick.) I'm guessing that this is a software, rather than a hardware, problem.

I bought a USB stick yesterday (my first) - a 16GB Sandisk, for £10. It was already formatted and i was able to just plug it in my PC and drag-and-drop all my music files (as MP3s) onto it.

I bought it as I've just got a new car which has a USB slot. Works brilliantly. Obviously each file has to be tagged with artist/album/song for those to display on the dashboard music unit.

I like when you can pull the little picture with the song file. I can't seem to make it work consistently but it is fun. The funnest was probably finding some Milla Jovovich pictures to go with some very strange tunes I found by her somewhere. She may have done more acid in her life than I did.

Pulling (whatever that may mean in the context) little pictures with song files is alien to anything in my life. But Ms Jovovich is certainly very easy on the eye. Has she done acid? I did quite a lot of that back in the day, although I don't think that I'd do it now.

That's reassuring. I thought it was just me being a Komputer-Klutz.

Files that contain music (eg MP3 format) can also include data for a picture. I've never heard of "pulling" a picture either. Maybe a typo and meant to say "putting"?

Pulling - putting. Tomato - tomato. Hmmm, doens't work as well in text. Basically, I pulled (or dragged) a picture from one folder to the folder with the MP3. And, yes, Pet, I can't think of any other rational explanation for Milla's tunes. Quaaludes wouldn't do it. And, no normal minid could dream that stuff up. I really do like the tunes but ... not standard fare. In some ways, It reminds me of "Birds of Fire" by Majavishnu Orchestra.
