It was probably someone like David Sylvian for his talent or Stephen Hawking for his mind.
    Or maybe it's David Baxter...in a totally non-gay bro-mantic way that is.

Haha! I admire some characteristics of those 3 (and yourself), but obsession? No.

I think it was/is David Bowie...am I right HJ?! In your teenage years?

Yes, and yes. :-) Between '75 and '80 (I was 14...19) I hung on his every word. Bought all the albums, singles and a lot of books (some terrible, but amusing in a 70's fan-boy way). I can't beat A_is_A's wonderful perfume/Deneuve undertaking, but I did try to copy the Thin White Duke hairstyle (*FAIL*) and bought a leather jacket which I thought looked like the one on the 'Heroes' sleeve.
I guess I'm a bit embarrassed about those exploits but I do still love his work, and... looking back, I'd say his most inspired output was that from the late 70s... so at least I was obsessed at the right time!

BTW, the person who started the Twitter/stalker thread... I'm friends with her on Facebook and Twitter, and her original intention was more to highlight the upset Alison might have been feeling, rather than to ridicule the fan-girl. It didn't come across that way, I know.
  • Photo's from your Bowie days! Come on bring it. I'll bet you looked really adorable too.

-Regarding the twitter/fanatic thread, I completely understand your friends concern, especially when her personal/life/photos where getting retweeted. I think it was the right call editing the thread, when I saw it on the front page i worried that the lady in question might come across it and become really injured/unhinged/whatever. So I'm glad you fixed it. If I had to read about myself I'd probably feel bad too. Anyway, I think you did the right thing.

-About Stevie, my thing for her was never sexual. With her it has always been more inspiration than anything else. It's the kind of adoration one reserves for idolized older siblings or favorite characters from literature. That said I would love, love, love a hug and a laugh.
The others I mentioned are a different story /:)

    LOVE tasted CRITICAL
  • Hey, @Ponygurl, now that HJ is out of the closet, can we talk about Animotion?
If I were dead, could I do this?
  • P, I don't suppose you'd want to share the Prince poem? I'd like to hear it.
    LOVE tasted CRITICAL
  • I'd bet it's loaded with alliteration like velvet, velour, vestibule, or lush, lavender, love-lies-bleeding...

  • @cookie_munster Oh yes, unrequited love..I've had my share too. I remember my first serious crush, 8th grade..Jennifer. Tall, curly blonde hair..sophisticated (at least to me). She always used to have me zip up the back of her dress before chorus performances. I always wanted to kiss the back of her bare neck. Needless to say, I did all of her homework that year. Yep, she liked the boys though...alot. Maybe that's why they call it a "crush" though.

@A_is_A I really wish I would've kept a copy now! I can tell you, I believe the title had "Gold" in it...and it was deeply spiritual- I was really intense back then. Do you write A? I'd like to read some of yours sometime.

@iuv Motion Lotion or Animotion? I'm getting confused on the topic now- graceful, gliding, love-lies glowing...like a butterfly, a wild butterfly (?) I will collect you and capture you. (I don't think it works when you mix the two together :-?)

I tend to have little obsessions with celebrities all the time, haha. I can be obsessed with someone and the next week with someone else, or I can go back to someone else I'd been obsessed with again. Nothing scary at all, I just have fantasies like anybody else.
These last weeks' obsession has been Eva Green.

    Sounds familiar.
Obsessions have always been a great source of inspiration to me. It started with thousands of horse drawings and later turned into a ridiculous amount of portrait drawings. Because why draw someone else instead..

I like Eva Green as well Anoukvdm. I find her angular beauty quite compelling. I thought her character of Vesper in Casino Royale was very cold though, and preferred her in Camelot as Morgana.

The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ.
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit.
Shall lure it back to cancal half a line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.
  • It's too obvious to say Goldfrapp so I won't.
I have a massive obsession with Anna Calvi and just cannot stop listening to her albums and B-sides. I check out her FB page regularly as her photos from gigs or publicity shots are just sheer class.
I love my various sports and support England/GB at everything (except the England football team as they genuinely are SHIT).
Music in general I'm quite obsessive about and spend more money on it than I should!
I can't stop playing Pet Rescue Saga which is become an annoying obsession and takes over too much of my spare time!!!
  • obsessions:

    • disco in general.....what an amazingly uplifting period in music history.....
