Both Twitter and Facebook are what you make of them. My Facebook account is locked down as 'Friends Only', FB doesn't have viruses at all, they've been caught elsewhere. My Facebook account is setup as a newsfeed * of music & friends news, awesome pictures and best of all, I've set my Dragon browser up to block adverts, so they can target me with any advert, they're all blocked.
Again, Twitter is also what you make of it , to paraphrase a recent quote 'Don't just follow, interact'. Some people expect Twitter to do everything for them like it's the tv or something, it's a newsfeed, instant poptastic news from porn poster Alison and an opportunity to interact with friends and people you follow - I've had about 7/8 nice replies/laughs from comedians/popstrels I follow and each one gives you a little squee. But if you join with an expectation of replies, don't join.

Most of all, I use both as I use this forum , to enjoy banter and laffs with people . Both Twitter and FB allow you to set privacy so that you can get messages or posts from your friends only.

I'm not on commission, I'm not selling either,I'm not defending them and I'm not criticising anyone not using them , how ive set them up suits me . I see them as just the same as a forum really - if you interact properly, it enriches the experience, they're not tv. This post is to separate facts from bollox, each persons idea of entertainment differs.... but seeing as you're already reading other people's posts and posting your own, the point makes itself.

The mistakes people make, as some on here do, it's no use complaining about privacy but posting everything about their personal life. I'd suggest using a business that I'm taking onto The Apprentice called 'PostBook', where you post a letter to all your friends telling them you've got the shits or Tesco's baps are small or you've GOT A FUCKING COLD and the letter is sealed with a wax seal and then your friends can throw it straight into the bin.

Mmm , yeah , you`re right , I wrote it not long after finishing work , must have been in work frame of mind . Note to self : include more dogging/farting/miscellaneous sexual noises/llama references in work emails .

I'll add that it was very insightful. Of course, since I still will not use FB or twit, llama references work for me!
