  • The other one I liked was the comments from Hermoine Granger (whatever her real name is), concerning feminism the other day.  The actress may just be as wise as her Hermoine character.

Which feminism she was talking about?

  • Let me guess, she either dismissed feminism or used it to justify risque shoot

  • Another amazing story for women's day.

Wow, what a woman. I myself, have trouble reconciling violence for violence..but I understand it. What do you do when your friends and family die from an attack? I've been struggling with this ....esp. since a place I went to was targeted and 49 innocent, beautiful people lost their lives.

You know what's sad is a recent story told to me by a military friend. She was attacked and almost raped by a guy in her own unit. Yeah, someone she knew..like alot of rapes. A similar thing happened to me when I was just 13. She managed to get her rifle and threaten him. Someone in her own fucking unit though, that's a big fucking problem.

I think a big portion of my life has been trying to figure out why men carry out such violence on girls and women. There is a book called "The Fall" written by Steve Taylor that does a pretty good job explaining it. He's my Hero.

But that's fine isn't it? Feminism is about being who you want to be as a woman really. Should be no shame in risque shoots. I suppose an old fashioned notion is women getting their bodies out doesn't progress women's rights but women's rights can be about being able to show off your own body without the analysing or shaming of it.

  • Yeah definately. I relate so much to that article. My own father tried to instill horrible religious ideals in me. He told me when I came out as being gay, it was the devil. I then received every interpretation of the Bible from him and I was given books and tapes by Dr. James Dobson (a well-known religious man) to turn me straight! I personally believed God was simply Love, and that he was nuts! Still do.

Religion was just hijacked for means of control. In honour of women's day, I pray that the oppression of women by means of religion end. Women are the powerful, equal creators in this world. Amen.

(Note- I think that's why whenever Alison says devil bullshit, it really offends me. It takes me right back to my father and all that pain and oppression.)

    Ah cool.
  • The book you mentioned looks an interesting read PG. going to try to get my hands on that, thanks.
  • Got the book and looking forward to reading it, thanks PG.
I read an interesting article this week questioning whether men treat women with more respect if they wear heels. Of course they do! They respect the fact they have enslaved them to fashion and have infantilised them through helplessness!
Mind you, I do feel my bum looks a tad smaller when I wear heels....

Maybe it because women look taller/bigger in them. Pretty common among animals down the unbroken chain
