The recent book by Sara Maitland seems to fit very closely with what Alison has described as inspirational. It's a discussion of how life in the north european forests has shaped our folklore (no, not that folklore!) and imaginations. Each chapter describes a woodland in Britain and is rounded off by a re=telling of one of the classic European fairy tales (Rumpelstiltskin, Snow White etc etc). It's great in its own right, but seems especially relevant to the fairytale/?'Tales of Us' thread of Frappery
Does your enthusiasm for things written have anything to do with your being laid up. Whisperit? Should I take that into consideration when contemplating purchasing the book?
"The Damp Mattress" (by I. P. Knightly), "Wind in the Pillows" and "All Quiet on the Western Front (I forgot to take my Fybogel)"
Is that part of the title or a personal status update? The good news is that anyone that is as voracious a reader as you seem makes being laid up a little easier.
